Thirteen days. That’s how long we have to flip the House and Senate. But people keep asking, “Okay, then what?”
The subpoena comes back. For two years, House Democrats have sent letters the administration has ignored. If we win the midterms, come January, committee chairs get subpoena power, real budgets, and the ability to put witnesses under oath. We can finally investigate the Trump family’s ballooning wealth, the handling of the Epstein investigation, ICE, RFK Jr.’s HHS, the Iran war, and the East Wing demolition for the ballroom. And that’s just the beginning.
The purse strings tighten. Every dollar the federal government spends has to pass Congress. The war in Iran started February 28 without a single vote. Senate Democrats forced vote after vote to end it, and Senate Republicans blocked every one while gas and fertilizer prices climbed. With majorities, war powers resolutions pass, and the next request for war money goes through a Democratic Congress.
The confirmation conveyor belt stops. The Senate must approve every federal judge, Cabinet secretary, and U.S. attorney. A Democratic Senate decides who gets one. If a Supreme Court seat opens in 2027 or 2028, that nominee goes through a Democratic Judiciary Committee. That alone could shape the courts for decades.
The legislative agenda changes. Democrats decide what comes to the floor, which means bills on health care costs, prescription prices, and housing instead of ballrooms and arches.
But don’t get it twisted… Trump still has a veto, and we won’t have the two-thirds to override it. The White House will stonewall subpoenas and drag fights into court. A majority doesn’t fix everything in January, but it does end the free ride!
We’ve spent two years watching a president act like Congress doesn’t exist. In thirteen days, we get to remind him that it does!

Dems have to be totally ruthless, no mercy. I doubt they have it in them but, still the same, I’m holding out hope.
